This painting depicts a gas station cooler stocked with energy drinks, which I wanted to paint in detail in order to capture the dichotomy between a mundane and common retail spot and the way it feels almost like an altar of myth when encountered in the midst of exhaustion or drowsiness. Depicting textual and graphic design details in a painterly style proved an extensive test of intricacy and scale.
